Our Story
We are dedicated to delivering meaningful products and services with life long impact to support children and families to live active lives full of play.
Adaptive Kids was founded by Australian Paediatric Physiotherapists James Dowton, to provide evidence based, high quality, accessible programs and products.
James Dowton - Australian Paediatric Physiotherapist
James studied his Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at the University of Newcastle and completed his Masters in Advanced Paediatric Physiotherapy at Monash University.
Realising his passion for helping those around him and making a meaningful, positive impact on the lives of children and their families Adaptive Kids was founded to providing high quality, accessible, evidence based therapy and programs.
Having grown up in Dubbo, completing the University of Newcastle's Rural Health Program and working as a Paediatric Physiotherapist in rural QLD and NSW, these experiences lead to foundation of Adaptive Kids, providing high quality services to all, regardless of location.
Through empowering parents, carers and children with the right supports we can all play and grow together.

James Dowton Experience and Qualifications
Adaptive Kids Australia was founded to support all parents, carers and children to have access to meaningful, purposeful products and programs to support physical, social and emotional development.
James is an AHPRA Registered, Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist (B.PHTY, Honours).
- Member of the Australasian Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine
- Member of the Australian Paediatric Physiotherapy Group
- Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) - ECHO Paediatric's Australia Program
- Level One DIR Floortime Trained
- Current active NSW Paediatric Committee Member
- 2020 NSW Physiotherapy Branch Award Winner for contributions to the Physiotherapy Profession
- 2021 Hesta Excellence Awards Finalist, Allied Health
-Masters of Advanced Paediatric Physiotherapy and Healthcare Practice with Monash University.
James is also immersed in the Paediatric NDIS space, staying up to date with all the latest changes.
